1月30日 HAPPY BIRTHDAY YO-SEE!Australia Day was awesome, although, less eventful than last year, where Michael burned down the BBQ with his 3kg of sausage fat. Still, it was a good day. In the evening, Nay and I went into the City and the Valley to see the American Sailors : P - Wow, some of those boys are ADORABLE. We had plenty of muscly sailor hugs for Australia Day. (VERY VERY COOL) We started out at the Storey Bridge Hotel, but by the time we got there, pretty much everything was over, and it was fully packed, so we walked over the bridge to the valley. I think we just went to GPO and had a couple of drinks before we headed into the Exchange in the City, and met up with an old friend.
When I got home though, mum had to get taken to the hospital in an ambulance because she wasn’t breathing properly. She’s ok though, they think she has a kind of fluy-cough thing and she has torn some kind of muscle thing in her rib, so it hurts when she takes deep breaths.
I was supposed to work on Friday, but I was exhausted both from Australia Day, and mum being taken to hospital (at 1am) the night before that I pretty much just slept ALL DAY, then I went down the coast for the night, and came back up on Saturday morning.
Saturday night was Megan and Aden’s going-away party, up at Dicey’s. I hadn’t seen some of the people there for ages, so it was good to see everyone again. It’s sad that they are leaving though…
<Short side story here: Typically during this awesome weekend of hugeness, my camera is not working, thus I have no photos of any of this.>
AND SUNDAY WAS YO-SIE’s BIRTHDAY! YAY! We went to a BBQ in the afternoon at her house, and then Nay, Josie, Caroline & I went into surfers. Yo-Sie was very very wasted. We were so proud of her! :P You can’t officially be eighteen until you have spent the night spewing your guts up. It was a really good night though, the four of us had an absolute blast (from most accounts). Caroline is Yo-C’s best friend from New Zealand, and we all got along like a house on fire. I didn’t think that ANYBODY in the whole world talked as quickly, loudly and as much crap as I do. Apparently there are a few of us! We were even competing in volume to speak over each other. It was fun! 1月17日 Even my hair is tired right now....I’m back at work. It has been INSANE the last couple of days. I had the hugest weekend ever, which was not really the best way to start my re-introduction to work, after a three-week holiday. Typical though.
While work has sucked because I have been so damn busy, and have probably stopped for a collective ½ hour in the eighteen hours I have worked in the past two days, this weekend was truly awesome… more specifically, the last week was crazy, but awesome. Thus, I present: My Week In Summary
Monday: Lie unconscious in bed until approximately 11:00am, roll out of bed when carpet man comes over, and go visit Mat to try and convince him (unsuccessfully) to fix my damn car. At 12:30pm, pick up dad, and commence the 2-and-a-half hour journey from my house to the sunshine coast (including two stopovers and being stuck on a two-way highway behind two trucks that were ‘speed limited at 100’, but driving approximately 80kph in a frikking 110 zone! – where EVERYONE goes at LEAST 120 anyway…). Arrive at my Aunty’s place, and go for a walk with her on the beach with my (now crawling) adorable baby cousin. Go and visit my parent’s neighbours from when I was a baby. Sleep for approximately ½ an hour at a time, and wake up and take 15 minutes to go back to sleep all night. Wake up every 2 hours to screaming baby.
Tuesday: Wake up by squealing baby at 6:00am. Being unable to resist possible cuteness, fall out of bed, and stumble up stairs to be greeted by adorableness that is that child. Momentarily forget how damn tired I am. Drink lots of coffee, and get eaten alive by mosquitos. Read Harry Potter outside in front of gigantic fan. Drink more coffee, and get more mosquito bites. Have lots of adorable baby hugs. Die of exhaustion at 11:00pm.
Wednesday: Repeat of Monday night/Tuesday, and spend the morning entertaining the child that does not sleep… (crap I don’t want a baby like that!) except leave at 12:00 when my Auntie has to take my Uncle to the hospital because of his really bad ear infection. Drive back to Brisbane. Go and visit Donna, and the adorable chinese baby, Elliott. Miraculously convince Mat and Neil (neil ended up doing it) to finally replace the stick thing in my car. Almost convince Mat to cut and polish my car. Drive over to my Auntie’s at Mt Gravatt so that I can babysit my (4-year old) cousin the next day. DIE of exhaustion at 10:30pm.
Thursday: Wake up at 6:45am and spend the day watching my cousin Aidan. I am exhausted by 9:30, and don’t understand how people have children. There is an soft-serve icecream making disaster, in that, I can’t do it, and it didn’t work. Those sorts of things are best left to the professionals at McDonalds. Somewhere in the middle of the day, my brother got his licence. Mum relieved me of my babysitting duties at about 5:30, when I had to go to my cousin’s birthday dinner (that started at 4:30!) at Hungry Jack’s. We went to visit Neil for his birthday, and went swimming. I eventually went home at 10:00pm, when I agreed to let Chris take my car to pick up Sean from work. Watched a couple of episodes of friends, and went to go to bed, before realising that my pillows and blanket were in my car from when I stayed at the Sunshine Coast. Slept in ten minute spurts on lumpy pillow, with my old doona until 3:00 am when my brother FINALLY came home, after telling me to ‘chill’ for the last 3-hours when I complained that he was taking his sweet ass time getting home, and if he didn’t hurry the fuck up, I would never let him drive my car again.
Friday: Try to ignore ringing phone at 9:30am. It rings again, and I answer. Agree to take Laura to guitar lesson at 10:30. Remain unconscious until 10:15, get ready in five minutes, and speed the entire way there. Day passes in fog of tiredness. I break two fingernails, and spend (I kid you not) an hour and a half getting them fixed. The chick who did them seriously sucked ass hardcore. When she was finished and I walked out, I realised that neither of the nails was stuck properly to my natural nail (which she wrecked the shit out of), and there was a 3mm gap where they shouldn’t be. I went back, and they offered to fix it for free. I said that I didn’t have an extra two hours up my sleeve, so I got my money back. I then went on the impossible mission of finding a strapless bra. It only took two more hours, and $39.95! I was stoked! Friday night, we went to Di’s farewell at the Calamvale (and met some seriously creepy guys – it was Friday the 13th and a full moon after all – god, there were some freaks out!).
Saturday: I spent Saturday morning with the hugest hangover of all times, and when I finally transported myself to the Taylor’s (I could drive there unconsciously and not crash into anything – I have on several occasions!), we watched ‘Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure’. A movie that I don’t remember ever seeing before, but I will definitely see again. It was awesome – my brother even bought it because he liked it so much. In the afternoon, I drove down the coast, and went to a girl’s night with Renee’ and some of her old friends. We had a really awesome time. There was about nine of us, and six of us stayed in one itsy-bitsy room at the ANA (Holiday Inn?) hotel at Surfers. It was still one of the best nights ever. We drank A LOT! I ended up sleeping on the floor on a cushion in the corner of the hotel.
Sunday: I had the biggest hangover of all times- it made Saturday’s one look like a tickle. We had brunch at a pizza place, and I passed out at about 1:30 on Renee’s couch. I drove home at 4:00 and went to dinner for mum’s friend Anthea’s going away party type thing. When I finally got home at 10:30, I nearly died fully clothed on a pile of clothes on my bed, but I didn’t.
Monday: I woke up at 6:45, to go to work. I was sooo tired, my eyes stung. The day went soooooo fast, but I was buggered by the end because it was so busy. I stopped off at Mat and Neil’s on the way home for a couple of hours, and went home to find our entire house in the middle of each room. The termite man had to come and put some stuff at 30-centimetre intervals along every single skirting board in our house. My entire room was in the middle. I used it as an opportunity to move everything around, and I actually like the layout better than it was. I used to always move my room around, but lately, I have been so busy (and lazy) that I haven’t had the time or energy to do anything in at least a year.
Today: I have been so insanely busy at work, yet it feels like I have done NOTHING. I have a never-ending pile of crap. I am exhausted, and I want to go home! This past hour has gone so DAMN slowly! 1月8日 Believe It or NOT!I am proud to say that almost an entire weekend has passed and I have not had a single drop of alcohol... BELIEVE IT OR NOT!...
Last night, I went down the coast with Jose' to stay at Nay's and we all went to the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum at Surfers. It was a really fun night, considering it is probably the first time we have all hung out hangoverless or drunkless in quite possibly ever.
Considering i hate all things weird and icky, it was interesting that I really enjoyed the museum, cos it has some icky things. Even better still was the fact that all three of us have a similar short attention span, so we didn't read every single exhibit ten gazillion times. My brain would have quite possibly exploded if that was the case...
Afterwards we had dinner at this little place opposite ripley's that had a weird name with four letters, but i can't remember what it was called. It was a lime-greeny colour though. (The place, not the food).
Tomorrow afternoon, i am heading up to the sunshine coast to visit my Aunty and Uncle and my Cousin with my Brother and my Dad. Typically, the week that we are going up there is the first week in like a month-and-a-half that it has been less than 39 degrees, and raining on and off all the time.
Only one more week of holidays and then back to work
Crap, crap, crap, crap - also, I need to find my digital camera! I have absolutely NO IDEA where the hell it is or what the hell i did with it. I vaugely remember something to do with Neil on Tuesday night wanting it, but i don't think he took it, and i put it... SOMEWHERE... but we cleaned the whole house yesterday, and it didn't show up, so im thinking maybe it got put away somewhere by accident. I am also going to have to go to dad's at some stage todday to fix his outlook express, which i fully can't be assed doing right now, mainly because i can't even be bothered getting out of my pajamas, let alone driving 20-minutes in the rain for something that will either take 30 seconds to fix, or will involve me being on hold to the internet company for like a zillion hours. 1月7日 Happy New Year!AAh , It was nearly a month without an entry- weird - But i havn't forgotten!
Happy New Year all and I hope that everyone had a fantastically feral and hot Christmas! It's only fair that everyone's Christmas Day should have been filled with sweat and evil, and family time. So basically, like living in Hell for the day!
I think Christmas this year was really different. For starters, we were abandoned by my mother, who went on a two-week holiday to Fiji over My birthday/Christmas. Which ment that the whole day was devoted to Dad's family. Which is always fun in a sarcastic way... It was good, though, because it was my baby cousin Aimee's first Christmas. But my favorite part of Christmas this year (weeel last year cos it's taken me too long to write this entry) was the aftermath of the family-time at the Taylor's house. Many drinks and waaay too many calories later, i spent my entire boxing day passed out in a puddle of my own sweat (ew - that sounds icker than i intended), supremely dehydrated, and with the most gigantic hangover of all times.
New Year's was just as good, although i had 1/4 as much alcohol as i did on Christmas day. We had a tropical/hawaiian themed New Year's eve at the Taylors / Party for Renee' and My Birthdays. The only downfall was that there were only a few of us dressed up - If you are going to get drunk and make a fool of yourself on New Years, you may as well dress up! You are still going to make a fool of yourself - that's a given - but the dress-ups are novel, and being wasted is a good excuse to both look and act like a complete idiot.
I have made several new years resolutions, none of which i will keep longer than a few weeks, but i have vowed to be more sensible since turning 20 on the 23rd of december. It really freaked me out. For my birthday, santa gave me what i am assuming is a teensy wrinkle under my right eye (it may be from lack of sleep?) and a sticky-outy veiny bit on my leg (eew i know - too much sharing) but it made me realize that i am a grown up (apparently) and with wrinkly bits and veiny bits comes great responsibility. I don't particularly want any of those things, but i guess i am going to have to accept the inevitable.
My resolutions in no particular order: 1. To not drink every single weekend (or at least not both friday & saturday of each weekend) 2. To go to the gym at least 4 times a week (or walk the dog to make up for the days i can't be assed going) 3. To save money (when i start getting paid again) 4. To never eat cheese again (i have eaten cheese EVERY DAY this year since making this resolution) 5. To be more responsible
Like i said, i don't see many of them lasting - BUT - this weekend, we are going to Ripley's believe it or not museum instead of going clubbing, so that's a good start! But, we did go out on Tuesday night instead (funny funny story about being caught in the storm) so maybe it doesn't count.
There are photos of all of the above events, but i don't know if i am going to share so many of me looking like an idiot - although, it is probably more likely that i do that than keep my new year's resolutions. |
